Trauma, PTSD, and C-PTSD
Helping you navigate trauma so you can feel safe, in control, and connected.
Introduction
Trauma can leave us feeling disconnected and unsafe, both in our bodies and in the world itself. You may be experiencing nightmares, fear, or difficulty trusting that you will be safe in the future. You may also be feeling numb, disconnected, or like life is happening around you but you are not really experiencing it. Or perhaps you are feeling somehow “broken” leading to feelings of shame and low self-esteem. While you may have tried your best to cope with these difficult and confusing feelings, you may be reaching a point where you realize that you need help and no longer want to live the way you have been living.
About Me
Hi, I’m Lauren. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Through trauma-informed therapy, I’ll help you regain a sense of safety, process past and current traumas, and experience greater connection to yourself and others.
My Approach
I provide trauma-informed therapy to help you process your trauma, understand your symptoms, and regain a sense of safety and connection to yourself and others. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to trauma treatment. The type of treatment that is right for you will depend on the nature of your trauma and your individual needs, though some common themes include safety, learning to ground yourself, developing healthy connections, and exploring your identity. You can expect to be treated with empathy and respect and I will emphasize the importance of consent throughout therapy. This means that we move at the speed that works for you. You will never be forced to speak about something you are not ready to talk about or engage in an activity that may be retraumatizing.
